    Himalayan Bank Limited began operations in 1993 as a joint venture with Habib Bank of Pakistan and the Employees Provident Fund, and was the first Nepali commercial bank with majority private-sector ownership. Following its 2023 acquisition of Civil Bank it runs about 190 branches and 20 extension counters nationwide from its head office at Kamaladi, Kathmandu.
