Nepal Investment Mega Bank Limited (NIMB)

Nepal Investment Mega Bank Limited (NIMB) is a Class 'A' commercial bank licensed by Nepal Rastra Bank and one of the largest banks in the country by paid-up capital. It took its present form in January 2023 through the merger of Nepal Investment Bank Limited, which had been operating since 1986, with Mega Bank Nepal Limited.

The bank was founded on 27 February 1986 as Nepal Indosuez Bank, a joint venture in which Credit Agricole Indosuez of France held a 50 percent stake alongside Nepali institutional and private investors. It was among the earliest foreign joint-venture banks in the country.

In 2001 a group of Nepali investors acquired the French partner's holding, and the bank was renamed Nepal Investment Bank Limited. It grew over the following two decades into one of Nepal's largest private banks.

Nepal Investment Bank and Mega Bank Nepal signed a merger agreement and began joint operation as Nepal Investment Mega Bank Limited on 11 January 2023. The combined institution reported paid-up capital of about Rs 34.13 billion in the 2025/26 financial year, with the promoter group holding roughly 61 percent of shares and the general public the remainder.

The merged bank operates more than 200 branches along with extension counters, ATMs and branchless banking points across all seven provinces, and employs over 2,000 staff. Its head office is at Durbar Marg in Kathmandu, with valley branches in Baneshwor, Thamel, Kalanki, Lalitpur and Thimi, and regional coverage in Pokhara, Butwal, Birgunj, Biratnagar, Dharan, Tulsipur, Surkhet, Tansen and other district centres.

Mega Bank's network, built with a strong rural and agricultural focus before the merger, extended the combined bank's presence into smaller municipalities and farming districts.

International transfers, trade settlement and remittance run through SWIFT code NIBLNPKT, supported by correspondent banking relationships that cover the main remittance corridors used by Nepali workers abroad.
