Prabhu Bank Limited

Prabhu Bank Limited is a Class 'A' commercial bank licensed by Nepal Rastra Bank and one of the largest banks in the country by branch network. It is the product of repeated consolidation: seven separate financial institutions have been folded into it since 2014, giving it a branch footprint that reaches well beyond the major cities.

The bank attained Class 'A' commercial bank status in 2014 through the merger of four institutions: Kist Bank Limited, Prabhu Bikash Bank Limited, Gaurishankar Development Bank Limited and Zenith Finance Limited. The merged entity began operating under the Prabhu Bank name that year.

Grand Bank Nepal Limited merged into Prabhu Bank in 2016, and in 2023 the bank acquired Century Commercial Bank Limited. In total, seven financial institutions have been brought together to form the bank as it stands today, a scale of consolidation matched by few other Nepali banks.

Prabhu Bank operates around 300 branches, 66 extension counters and 265 ATMs across all seven provinces, serving more than 3.8 million customers. Its head office is at Prabhu Building in Babarmahal, Kathmandu, and its network is notably deep in mid-hill and Terai district centres, a legacy of the development banks and finance companies absorbed in its mergers.

Remittance is central to the bank's business. It runs a dedicated overseas department serving Nepali workers in India, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries, and it is associated with the wider Prabhu group's remittance operations. Correspondent banking relationships with international banks support trade settlement and payments in major currencies.
