IDP Education Nepal is the local office of IDP Education, an Australian student placement company that operates in more than thirty countries and is one of the three co-owners of the IELTS test alongside the British Council and Cambridge. Its Kathmandu office is at Ratna Bhawan on Kamaladi-Hattisar Road, opposite Kathmandu Plaza.
Counselling service
Counselling is offered free to students, with IDP earning its income from the institutions it represents rather than from student fees. Sessions cover course and country selection, entry requirements, costs and living expenses, and the realistic chances of a given profile at a given institution.
Services
- Free study abroad counselling and course matching
- University and college application processing
- FastLane, which returns faster admission decisions from participating universities
- Scholarship information and application guidance
- Student visa application assistance
- IELTS testing and preparation material
- Global education events where university representatives meet students directly
- Pre-departure and arrival guidance
Destinations
The Nepal office places students in six main destinations: Australia, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Ireland. Australia remains its core market, reflecting the company's own origins as an initiative of Australian universities.
IELTS in Nepal
Because IDP co-owns IELTS, its Nepal operation runs official test sessions as well as counselling. Students booking through IDP can sit the test and lodge applications through the same organisation, and test results are delivered directly into the application process.
