Gyanshree School is a private, co-educational, English-medium day school in Mid-Baneshwor, Kathmandu, close to Apollo College. It opened in 2026 as a joint venture between two established Kathmandu institutions: Kathmandu Model Secondary School (KMC) in Bagbazar and Euro School in Chhauni. The school describes itself as "a new age school with strong values". It serves young children and school-age students, from pre-school upward.

Background

According to Edusanjal, Gyanshree started teaching in March 2026, in time for Nepal's new academic session, which the school says begins in the second week of Baisakh. Its first admissions were for Nursery through Grade 7. Edusanjal's listing extends that to Grade 9, and the school's own programme pages describe a path through to Grade 10.

The two founding partners bring different strengths. KMC Bagbazar has run a large +2 and college programme in central Kathmandu since 2000. Euro School Chhauni works in early-years and school education. The school's website shows the Cambridge, KMC and EuroKids marks among its partner logos, and names Anish Dhakal as principal.

The Baneshwor building is the first campus. The school's website lists a second campus in Lalitpur as "coming soon", and Edusanjal mentions a Balkumari location.

Programmes

  • Pre-School (ages 2–5)
  • Basic Primary (Grades 1–5)
  • Basic Middle School (Grades 6–8)
  • High School (Grades 9–10), being added as the school grows

Curriculum and approach

Gyanshree teaches Nepal's National Curriculum using Cambridge International pedagogy, which puts weight on critical thinking and creativity in the core subjects. Teaching uses STEAM-based and project-based learning. Sports, music, arts and leadership development are built into the curriculum rather than run as optional extras.

The school says it keeps parents informed through regular communication, continuous assessment and structured progress reports. It also runs school-engagement programmes that invite families onto the campus.
